So each week, me and a reporter take some darts and throw them at a map of the area. From what I hear, it can be a bust or you can land a cool story out of it. It's all up to chance and where that dart lands.
Lindsey, one of the reporters, and I ended up in Vidalia, which is right across the river in Louisiana. We talked to a few people without any luck, but then met Julius and Mary. Julius handles, shows and breeds Paso Fino horses, and Mary is his biggest cheerleader and fan. I went out to their stable yesterday, and I'm hoping to periodically meet with them and keep up with their story. Very nice, welcoming people.

Hello Mississippi!
After I finally found some time to breathe after being here for two weeks, and actually having some photos worthy of blogging, here are some photos I shot for the new paper I work for, the Natchez Democrat. I'm the only photog, so it has been nothing short of hectic. Loving it though.
These frames are from middle school cheerleading tryouts at one of the local private schools. I felt like I was back to my shooting style, after struggling for the first few weeks adjusting to just about everything. Moving is stressful.

Goodbye Kansas!

(Not) the best of 2011
So as I was editing for contests (ugh) I was looking through everything I shot this past year and realized an awful lot won't make it into my portfolio and thus will be saved on my hard drive to never see the light of day again. This is a gathering of some that I personally liked throughout the year that have no place anywhere really, except for on a blog post.

Blogging
So Sean and Neil convinced me to actually update a blog a few months ago, and now that I am done with school and and less busy, I am doing just that, starting now. In a few days I start my third internship with the Hutchinson News. I'm pretty excited to be in a place that is so different from anywhere I've ever worked. Bring it on, Kansas!
